Has anyone's child attended a Saturday program in NYC for high schoolers? My daughter is looking at quite a few: Cap21 MT, Atlantic Theatre and Manhattan School of Music. I have been reading conflicting info about Strasberg and Adler on the backstage boards so we haven't factored them into the equation. Any input would be much appreciated!

Adler is fabulous. Really, if it’s acting she’s interested, those others just don’t stack up.

I can only comment on the Adler teen summer intensive. My son attended a few years ago and the program was excellent. He is a serious young man and wanted a serious, rigorous program and he found it there. It was his first professional training experience and it set the stage for many others.

I don’t know enough about the programs for high schoolers to be able to give advice but I do have to disagree with this comment if it’s meant generally about Atlantic Theatre Co. It’s simply not true.

Also, I have a friend whose daughter attend the CAP21 summer program and she sound it very challenging and satisfying. I can’t comment directly on educational opportunities at Atlantic but do know that it is a first rate theater company. I guess the best advice is how you feel about a particular program based on your (your daughter’s) interactions with them. I’m a firm believer in the axiom that in any first rate educational situation, what you take away is much more up to you than it is the program.

Look at the Neighborhood Playhouse

Thanks for the input. My daughter wants to do a Saturday program that incorporates singing and dancing and I believe Cap 21 is the only one that offers such a program. Atlantic and Adler are just acting as far as I know.
