I have seen the posts from previous years about the 4 week (or less) turnaround on admission decisions for early applicants. Has anyone received any information about the expectations for quick decisions this year? Thanks.

I haven’t heard anything yet on the turn around time this year. I submitted my application on September 9th, hopefully I’ll will be able to give you an answer in the very near future.

My guess (and it is strictly a guess) is that Tulane will be a little more deliberate this year, although that might not be reflected so much in taking longer to respond as it might be in more deferred applicants to the RD time-table. Tulane could have almost certainly gotten a few more top level students that they had to wait-list because they had already accepted people EA that they would have deferred, if they had realized how strong the overall applicant pool was going to be. But because they had accepted quite a few EA based on past criteria, they ran out of space. I think they will be more selective this year. Of course, this class was virtually the equal of the previous class statistically, which was the strongest in the history of the school. So it isn’t like it worked out badly. But of course they would like to keep taking advantage of the growing interest in Tulane among top-tier students.

This is another reason they have instituted the new Single Choice Early Action, where you agree that you are only applying to Tulane for an early admissions decision, but it is still non-binding. This will help them separate the most interested applicants from those that are likely to go elsewhere. So you probably will hear fairly quickly still, but there is a good chance they will have tightened up the EA criteria.
