Has anyone got news who replied early decision? I haven't seen anyone from skimming this board.
I applied in around the 12th of January, and I thought we were supposed to hear back within a month. I'm just a little bit worried. My semester ends really late though, and my mid year transcipt won't go out until this week though. I'm thinking they wouldn't make a decision without that.

I didn't find out yet either, and I applied using the Personal Application so I'm supposed to find out within four weeks. I applied at the end of December but I don't think the rest of my stuff got there till around Jan. 15th. But I didn't send my midyear transcript because I heard we aren't supposed to.

It's weird because my app status used to say "The committee is working hard to render your decision as soon as possible" or something like that..

and yesterday it changed to this:
"Your decision is pending review. We will try to get you a decision in just a few weeks, but you will receive a decision by December 15th at the latest."

LOL DEC.15th?! anyone else get this?

Tulane recently sent out an email that was supposed to go to GCs but the accepted EA students got it. A second email was sent explaining the mistake. Here is what the first email said.

Our application deadline has passed and as we look toward the spring, I wanted to update you regarding Tulane University ’s undergraduate enrollment. Thanks to your help, Tulane University has rebounded from the blow dealt us by Hurricane Katrina. The enrolled freshman class this past fall surpassed institutional goals and returned to nearly pre-Katrina levels.

However, it is the news about next year’s class that has surprised us all. Tulane is experiencing unprecedented increases in the quantity and quality of applications for fall 2008. Applications are up by several thousands- nearly double last year’s total! Given this surprising development, we are now forced to tighten our admission criteria to levels that warrant this special communication.

Prior to early action, we set the bar as high as we thought possible based on all our historical data while still allowing for a normal increase in quantity. Not only did the early action numbers increase significantly, but it has become clear that our regular decision quantity is much larger as well. Consequently, the regular decision candidates will be held to an even higher academic standard, with SAT and GPA playing the most significant role in the admission committee’s decisions.

While this is fantastic news for our University, and, more importantly, the recovery of New Orleans, it also presents challenges for all of us involved in the process, as we manage the expectations of students and their families. We will keep a strong waiting list in the event our yield does not correlate with the increase in applications, and it is possible that many of these applicants can be admitted later in the spring.

We do not yet have enough information to share all the factors accounting for this enormous increase in applications, nor are we able to accurately predict where our final admitted pool will fall. But, we must thank you for your role in our success. You have spread the word that Tulane has recovered from its recent difficulties, and remains an incredible institution and a wonderful match for high achieving, and civic-minded students. The great majority of our applicants tell us that a service experience they completed in post-Katrina New Orleans strongly influenced their desire to apply to Tulane University . I am confident that we will ultimately enroll a freshman class in August full of individuals who are prepared to work hard- not just for themselves, but for the betterment of their community.

There is another thread about this email, and some think that it may be another Tulane hard-sell tactic to get the students accepted EA to make their decision.

However, my son's acceptance letter did take longer than 4 weeks. I think it was more like six, and that was with fewer applicants.

hmm. i dont see how you could make the mistake of sending that to the admitted students. sounds a bit fishy

my status just changed to "Your decision is pending review
You will receive a final decision no later than April 1st"

maybe that means they've actually looked at it?

gingez, did you apply with the personal application?!

gingex* sorry lol

no i used a common app, but they said it would take the same amount of time. i got a couple of those in the mail, but i didn't want to do another app!

How do you check your application status? I haven't gotten anything that tells me how...

Enter your SSN

if that doesn't work for you for some reason just google "Tulane Status Check" and it's the first one.

Good luck

it seems that no one had heard who applied RD. well it shouldn't be too much longer i guess.

hey, I applied with the personal application RD as well. I got all my stuff in before January, called them 3 weeks later, and was told that I would know by April 1st along with all the other applicants. I was looking at posts from last year however and most people got their acceptances February 15/16, so I really have no idea what they're doing.

it's prolly because tulane got flooded with applications this year. They received 33,700 applications compared to a number in the low 20,000s last year. That would definitely cause them to get a bit slower with notifying RD applicants about admission

ergh. why do i have to apply in the year that has a huge increase in applications? oh well, i guess it would be even nicer to get in.
