Well, last year I said yes to someone, and I had a horrible time. I didn't really like him, but he liked me... He was too scared to engage in any sort of conversation with me (I really tried), he stalked me earlier to find out my email address (rather than talk to me in school), and despite all of his awkward timidity, he still someone was "brave" enough to try to grind with me and grab my -ss the entire night.

My point is- I would have had far more fun if I just went alone. My friends who didn't have dates definitely had a better time than I did. You don't need a date to have fun.

Hey LesOs, I don't know if I'm going to have the same problem as you for prom. There's this guy who I know really likes me (he told me so) and I'm pretty sure he'd like to ask me to prom. But the thing is that I'm not sure I feel the same way about him back. I'm also not sure he'd be that fun to go with versus somebody else, since I can't really see him dancing crazy, but then I'm sure I could get him to dance, too....

Do you think it'd be fine if I just went with him?

if you go to prom please don't just sit around watching other people dance!! Or don't be like my silly friends who both had dates; sit around and play card games. At prom. If you are going to sit around and play card games, I suggest you stay home. You will be happy that you saved your money! :D

Lulz, only if you're a failure with no other important event in your life. I'd remember going to an epic yankee game before I remember a useless dance.

It's not bitterness, it's just "where's the fun factor?"

^Agreed. I can tell it's bitterness from a mile away.

LOL...bitterness over saving money? This is a new concept to me. Prom (read: fail) night is in June for us, and I won't even be in NY during that time. Besides, the student council is *****ing to everyone about selling magazines for the prom, which is annoying because 1) I don't want to sell magazines and 2) I'm not going to the prom.

The problem with discussing this kind of stuff is most of the people who defend everything there is to prom have the intelligence of a southern evangelist. Hence why when someone says they're not going to prom, it has to be "omg they dont have a date" instead of "guess they really cant be arsed to go"
