is prom short for something like promenade?? or something...tell me now!

Dang, yall tickets are cheap. Ours are $90 a pop. It's at a hotel. And I'm paying for my date's ticket since He doesn't go to my school. This whole affair is burning a hole in my wallet!

!!!!!That makes me want to cry; I'm so jealous... :(

Oh, and logisticslord:

"Prom" is short for "promenade," a borrowing from the French derived from the Latin "prominare," meaning "to drive forward." To "promenade" in the original sense was simply to go for a walk, though when it appeared in English around 1567 it especially meant to walk to and fro in public view in order to display oneself or one's finery. A "promenade" could also be a specific place where the socially adept did their "promenading," and to this day there is a very fine promenade of this sort in Brooklyn Heights overlooking New York Harbor. By the late 19th century, "promenade" was being used to mean a formal ball or gala at a school or college, and it was shortened to "prom" around the same time."

my prom was last night, and instead of going I got a hotel with about 10 friends...I don't regret my decision in the slightest and would do the same again, it was a damn fun night.

Seniors at our school get free prom tickets...w00t!

Haha.

Prom + Drama = Proma

Our tickets are like...10 bucks, it's in the commons, and our theme is "Club Paradise." Pretty sure that sounds like a strip club of some sort.

sighs Oh well. People still manage to freak out about every little thing and turn it into this huge saga......

Which is why I usually just sit back and watch. :P

$10? ours are $50 a person or $90 a couple, down $20 from last year....

ours is 130 per couple or i think 70 per person

Our tickets were included in our dues for school. So essentially free!

I haven't paid my dues ever. Freshmen through junior, nor has over 3/4 of the class. No one cares about the dues.

Haha. Ten for a couple. Ha. Yeah...if it was any more, people wouldn't come because it's held IN THE COMMONS (aka...lunchroom).

I love our school.

(Not.)

Well, what do you know... I think I've got myself a coffee date. Sweet!

wow. what kind of shcools go ona a cruise for prom? i wanna go there...

I know; That sounds more like an after-prom event. Speaking of which, we're going bowling afterwards. And we might go to King's Dominion the next morning.

Congratulations, Cameliasinensis!!!!

And my old school used to have their prom on a yacht, lights_out, so...yeah. My current school, though, is having ours at a automobile museum/gallery thing...so we'll be dancing alongside all these mounted old, vintage cars on pedestals. Last year it was at the Disney Conservatory thing, where the roof is see-through, and the walls look like they're waterfalls and stuff when the dance lights are flashing.

One thing I can say about this year's prom comittee: Obviously, there are a lot more guys in it this year. hahaha!
