I just got accepted into PROMYS Europe!! Had solved 10/10 using LaTex in 36 pages
Do they accept 80 returning students? It is because I got accepted today and the email said that 20 first-year students were accepted.
Well, in case of Boston PROMYS, (not the Europe one), they state that they select around 20 returning students and 60 newcomers.
By the way, congratulations bruv!
@Xifong Hey don’t worry, man. 6/10 is pretty decent. They have been known to select people who solved around 5. What matters is how you solved the questions. And I do believe that a 35 page solution copy would stand out.
May is getting really close and i am getting increasingly nervous! How many programs did you guys apply to? for me, not getting in probably means a boring summer at home:(
I applied for ~10, but already been rejected by some of them, and 2 of them are “cash grab” programs with little to no admission competition that I don’t really want to go to. Now i’m just waiting for promys, hcssim, and mathily
I don’t really have a chance because although I did all 10, I didn’t suggest multiple solutions and some of them I didn’t rigorously prove. I did everything in less than a week
Uh I’m pretty sure you don’t need to suggest multiple solutions.
@Neverlookback I applied for four programs: SPARC/MIT Launch/SUMaC/PROMYS. I’ve been rejected from SPARC and MIT Launch, but accepted into SUMaC, so I’m probably not going to PROMYS if I get in.
Guys!! Did anyone get their email?! I’m freaking out!
@crappitycrap HCSSiM alum from last year. According to my experience and what I’ve heard, HCSSiM seems to be the place where you can do math in the most flexible and creative ways. In terms of admissions, I think they appreciate creative ways to solve some particular problems instead of old-fashioned ways to dash through all of them. They have have pretty innovative problems though and I don’t really think you can solve them in any mantra way. Also from what I know, most people from last year when I attended did not solve all the problems in the Interesting Test. Good luck!!
@mathfanatic18 Did you get any mail till now???
No nothing yet. Has anyone got their email??
A few people on AoPS are reporting emails (both acceptances and rejections)
