<p>It is inexpensive, and although we have never needed to make a claim, parents here on CC have noted that their service regarding claims is good.</p>
<p>The Smith parents of 2015 got a solicitation from them in the mail. I think it’s a good idea to have this insurance.</p>
<p>If you have a homeowners insurance policy - the personal property portion can cover losses. I added computer coverage for an additional $19 a year. You should call your carrier to check what it covers.</p>
<p>I never knew anyone at Smith that had property insurance, and I myself never even thought of such a thing as a teenager, but based on some of the stories parents have posted on CC about the insurance and what it’s used for, it doesn’t sound like such a bad idea. It’s highly unlikely that any of your possessions would be stolen at Smith, but it’s much more likely that your phone or computer will be lost/dropped/spilled on/set on fire.</p>
<p>Our homeowners policy is like akebias’ - it would cover potential losses.</p>
