In your earlier posts, you state that your college degree served you very well; in fact, you credit it with your vocational successes! It sounds like many of your problems are attributable to this ongoing recession and high unemployment, and perhaps (I say this gently) a negative attitude on your part.

Uh oh look out kelly thinks she ‘got’ me. Your conclusions from my old posts are over interpreting. The only thing I said was that my degree in math proved useful in the sense that it helped me transition into a different area of study/employment. Thats it. They said nothing at all about value of WHERE it came from. I could have gotten the same degrees anywhere esle for thousands of dollars less and I have no doubt in my mind the outcome would have probably been the same. I would LOVE to hear why my math degree from Nova is more valuable than a math degree from Rutgers, University of Delaware, or Penn State (which all cost less). I’m all ears.

And yes you are right I have a negative view about higher education. People should REALLY learn how student loans work and why college tuitions sky rocket. It is because of flat out greed, it is simple as that and it appears VU participates actively in the student loan bubble. Just because a lot of other schools do the same thing is no excuse to constantly raise tuition, especially when grads face the worst job market in generations.

@gravenewworld - You have made your point. Your experience is clearly not typical of most graduates.

Let’s get back on track here…
Pros
- great atmosphere for sports fans (Nova sports, the Phillies, the Eagles, the 76ers)
- 1st year learning communities
- gorgeous campus
- nice facilities in the Bartley Hall (finance lab)
Cons - main library (not a huge collection comparing to top research universities)

This thread is great. I am sure grave-new-world’s attitude has nothing to do with her unemployment, lol. If she finally finds a job she may be upset that no one there is staging sit-ins there either.

Good luck gravenewworld, you are going to need it. Student loans are not discharged in bankruptcy. Maybe you should try Starbucks. You may find some like-minded, copy-cat hippies to participate in sit-ins. You could protest the lenders that funded your education.

One problem with the library is that they don’t have any volumes bound in human skin.

pro great education overall at least prestige wise for business school although classes freshman year were not very challenging some professors I question why they teach
beautiful girls/guys I mean we won barstool u contest for hottest girl in college Kacie McDonnell
small campus easy to navigate see people you know everywhere you go

cons
if you enjoy studying all the time you can fit right in at nova looking for parties? extremely difficult esp. if you are a guy you got to have connections meaning know people in fraternities beforehand general rule of thumb if you want to party avoid villanova and georgetown as well
lots of stuck up people and vibe of rich people
girls tend to look, dress, and act the same way turn off for me too many friends are act the same
not diverse at all 85% catholic. this school cannot be diverse and all white more than 50% of students i believe went to private schools lots of my friends are catholics
questionable on people’s overall well balance between work and social abilities lol
hard to find girls who are pretty and not stuck up since 40% of girls join sorieites and 100% of hot girls are in sorieties. go to any state school you will find plenty of attractive girls who are not in sorieities and have down to earth personalities
cliche so back to college people hang out with same people join club sports/greek life if you want to truly get to know more people
you can be a freshman guy seeing all those hot babes in the gym but realize it is very unlikely you will ever encounter them since they hang out in their own groups so in essence demoralizing lol
