What are the pros and cons of Brooklyn and Queens Colleges?

Impossible to answer without knowing your options.

You are going to major in four different areas?

No, I am just thinking about majoring in those and want to know which college is better for each of those majors.

For NYC residents that plan to live at home or have few options due to family obligations, employment, low grades and test scores, they are an option. For others, a poor option. Brooklyn College has a 17% four year graduation rate.

Which is better, though? Queens or Brooklyn?

I would say Queens college has a better reputation and the cost of living in Queens is much, much lower than Brooklyn. Queens College is in Flushing.

IMHO, they are both equal. For Teachers Ed program, Queens College has the best reputation. For Accounting, I would give the nod to Brooklyn College (they both offering Accounting degree from what I have heard). I would think it boils down to where you live. If you live in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn College and if you live in Queens and Long Island, then you would choose Queens College. Both have very nice campus for an urban College.

For Macaulay Honors College (2014-2015), Queens has about 230 scholars, while Brooklyn total is 310. The average GPA/SAT/ACT scores are “slightly” lower for Brooklyn in comparison to Queens, so it might be easier to get into Brooklyn’s Macaulay Honors College.

Thanks!

If you are interested in law school, you can major in almost any subject area. You need critical thinking skills and excellent writing skills. Law schools care mainly about GPA and LSAT scores. Attend a college where you will get plenty of writing practice and can maintain a very high GPA. Unless you are accepted into a 1st tier law school, have a hook for a job upon graduation or are considering the FBI or advocate general positions , reconsider. There is a glut of young lawyers clerking.

Thanks!

My two cents since my wife went to Queens - Comp. Sci. at Queens is VERY good. I have interviewed a lot of comp. sci. majors for dev roles and Queens consistently produces competitive applicants.
