Hi! Can a UChicago student list the pros and cons(if any) of all the halls or their own? It'd be really great to hear from current students how they like each one!!

For athletes (which I will be), I was thinking that Max would be the best since it's closest to the Gym, but how are the others?

If it were my son / daughter entering as a varsity athlete whose sport (I assume volleyball) takes place at Ratner I would strongly recommend Max P or Snell Hitchcock. You will be committing a lot of time to your sport and you need to be close to your training venue. Also, Bartlett dining hall is close to those dorms. If you are set on a single, go for Snell Hitchcock because singles are generally not available to first years. To ensure your place in either one of these places, get your deposit in early.

For others reading this, I only make this recommendation because the poster will be a varsity athlete. My son is a second year living at I-House and he’s quite happy there, but he’s not a varsity athlete. The opening up of 58th street in front of Saleh Hall has really improved access to the main part of campus from the dorms on the East end of campus.

Yeah, definitely Max if you’re going to be an athlete. I’m a current second year (but not an athlete) and Max is the perfect location. South’s also really good, and I have an I-House bias because I live there :D
