are there any pros or cons to submitting act scores before actually submitting application? son cant do his applications until school starts as wont know his schedule ie he asked for physics c but could get physics b, he may have to drop one subject to accomodate a lab etc due to scheduling. he also is appealing one grade on his transcript so his gpa could change. he also wants to take the act in september. I contacted a few schools and explained but they suggested he send his act scores now at least. most had a scholarship deadline of dec so i would hope they would take his highest score if we submit the september ones also.
what will they do with the scores if they dont have an app to go with it? (we have never used the 4 free ones as he always wanted to know the actual score before sending it to anyone)
one school did say they begin looking for scholarship candidates in august and actually begin to invite them to apply and a weekend based solely on act so that might be an advantage to sending?
or should we just wait and submit everything together

If you send a test score, the college begins an application file for you and when actual app arrives it is matched with the same file. If you submit a Sep score and it is higher, school will use the higher. Don’t know what school you are referring to but if they tell you they start considering scholarship candidates early based on score, they are probably telling you the truth so for that one you probably want to consider it but most colleges usually don’t start that early. There are colleges that have deadlines in Dec or Nov for getting everything in if you want to be considered for a scholarship and for those you just have to get everything in by the deadline.
