please be specific!!

Pros:Small Size- allows you to have a more personal experience.
I even heard of one student who wanted to take a course they didnt provide, so her/his professor created a little course just for her!

Close to a major city- Swarthmore is a really quite area, but a 10 min drive could take you to Philadelphia if your big on the party scene and want to hang with Drexel, Temple, & Penn students

Campus- Their campus is beautiful......in fact, I read an article that rated it one of the top 25 in America.

Tons of courses- If Swarthmore doesnt have a course you want, they have a program where you can take courses at Penn, Bryn Mwr, or Haverford and they have a shuttle bus to take you there (except to penn)

Mall- There is a mall like 5 min away if your big on shopping

Cons: If you're a huge sports person, yeah....good luck challenging urself @ Swat

I did a review of the college, and it's posted on the Swarthmore forum. Look for it.

Pros and Cons of Swarthmore
please be specific!!

If you want a specific answer, you should ask a specific question. Anything that one person views as a "pro" can be seen as a "con" by another.

small size to the extent of swat might be a bad thing for some people

^It's both a good and bad thing.. you'll see the people you dislike more but on the otehr hand you'll also see the people you like more.

How good are the facilities? Thanks.

What facilities are you talking about? By the way, the College _____ book on Swarthmore is excellent, if you're interested in finding accurate information. ______ rhymes with Scowler.

Oh, I know what book you're talking about! I love Swarthmore, I bet the facilities are above par. I'm talking about athletic facilities...lab facilities...

Um...so you're going there right now. Do you have a lot of pressure (academic)?

Thanks. I'm thinking about other schools like Smith, Wellesley, Mount Holyoke, & Williams, which are probably not as academic as Swarthmore.

What kind of pressure are you referring to? From other people like students, profs, or advisors, no one will be pressuring you to do anything, since we're a very non-competitive place where everyone loves what they're doing! Which is why if there IS pressure, it's from students on themselves, since I'd say most of us are here to study within disciplines we really care about. There are a lot of support networks here so you don't feel pressure from yourself or otherwise (although the former is harder for others to control, of course) - from RAs and Student Academic Mentors (SAMs) on the hall, personal tutors in every subject, a Writing Center and personal Writing mentors, study groups and group clinics for many classes, and more. As well as tons of events and study breaks to keep you from thinking about it! Haha. :]

I'm sitting in the library with what I'd imagine to be a huge chunk of the school working on my remaining 4 papers for this semester, and I think that neither I nor the people around me feel "pressured" aside from our own goals and just wanting to do the best we can.
