pros and cons

ok i know that i am waitlisted right now but i'm feeling lucky in some ways right now...
anyway, what are the pros and cons for going to university of rochester?

Pros: Top Notch Academics & Professors, Great Music (Eastman's is on campus), Friendly People, Decent Social Life, Decent City nearby, Unique "Cluster" system = Freedom of Curriculum found only at URochester (you direct your own education, its not a free-for-all but its not a set track either)

Cons: Weather (underground tunnels are available though), from what Ive heard - some people are anti-social and stay inside to play games all day (but ull find these wherever u go, not just Rochester)

Inbetween : UofR is a great school but its in the midst of lots of developments to raise its national rank - its a school on its way up but not quite there yet.

I was thinking about this - you also have to judge a school's rank/prestige not only today but 4 years from now at graduation time. Where will it be ranked then, when it really counts?

I think the only problem for Rochester is lack of advertisements (first, redoing their website!)If they could do a better job on it in the future, it would be ranked much higher than what it is now!
Besides, it's sort of frustrated when I told my friends "I'm going to URochester", then they would reply me" why not RPI or Syracuse U.?"=/
For this reason, UR students are more serious on their studies, and those who look for a "real" education, not reputation.

good point behappy

one more fact!

MIT's new president comes from URochester, which is a shock to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =0
