<p>I want to get some opinions of the school from people attending or who have attended the school. Let me know.</p>
<p>It really is probably "the best of all worlds."</p>
<p>Not too big, not too small.
Safe with a suburban feel, yet the campus overlaps the Newton/Boston line.
Bigtime basketball, football, and hockey, yet academics are still high.
Religious and with values, but Jesuit and tolerant.
Near a major airport.
Adjacent to perhaps THE college town, Boston.
Don't need a car...mass transit right to the campus.
Many on-campus housing options. Nice off-campus options nearby.
On the rise UPWARD in difficulty of admissions and academic quality,
Tightly knit alumni.
Great honors program.
Beautiful campus.
Good food.</p>
<p>Th other colleges which are often named as having the best of all worlds are Stanford, Duke, Michigan, Berkeley, Wisconsin, and Northwestern. </p>
<p>Stanford and Duke aren't as close to interesting cities. Only Michigan and Wisconsin are good in the 3 major sports (b-ball, football, and hockey), I don't think any of them is as pretty or safe as BC.</p>
<p>Cons:
-Newton vs. Upper (depends)
-Depending on how you ask and their luck, crappy housing lottery. I didn't think it was that bad, but then again, I did have an upward trend. Upper (freshman year) to a townhouse (senior year) lol.
-No singles
-Residential buildings could be better.
-Homogenous campus
-If you're in CSOM, the business core and A&S core kind of ruin/take up your schedule but that's to be expected.
-Unreliable shuttle system (sometimes)
-Campus is about to get completely renovated so you may or may not enjoy its beauty when there's construction going on everywhere.
-Expensive</p>
<p>That's all I can think of at this moment, and even these cons are somewhat minor. No college is perfect. We all suffer these blues at lease one time in our college careers.</p>
<p>[With that said, these PALE in comparison to my experience here. I love being an Eagle!]</p>
<p>there was one of these threads a while ago.. i remember writing it. try to look for it, it was really good. btw i agree with everything said so far except i think the residence halls are fine for the most part. even freshman dorms arent THAT tiny</p>
<p>up... trying to get some more opinions</p>
<p>I read some pretty bad things on **************.com and it sort of threw off my outlook of the school...</p>
<p>You should keep in mind that most of the people who bother posting on that site usually have a bone to pick about something, so you are not getting an unbiased view.</p>
<p>BC is not perfect -- no school is -- but over 90% of the freshman class returns for sophomore year, so they must like it!</p>
