I am a biology major, considering pre-med. More interested in research/medical research and possibly teaching. Accepted to both. Coming from Philly area. Thanks!

If you are out-of-state, why are you looking at NC State? It is typically reserved for those getting a good in-state deal.

Can you give us (tuition+ R&B) - (grants+scholarships) = ?
What’s your parents’ budget?

Both are attractive in terms of bio programs & research. Prefer to go OOS. Net cost is same for both & affordable. Already accepted at both.

NCState will be more preprofessional and is located in a city. UNC-CH is one of the coolest college towns around and it’s a research powerhouse. However, in terms of where you’d get the most opportunity to actually do research as an undergrad, you should email that question to Heads of Dept at both universities (both working for a professor as an undergrad/getting involved in a lab, and if so how likely is it as a freshman; and is it possible to work on your own research as a jr/sr.)

Thanks MYOS! Other general pros & cons? College culture. Best aspects? Worst aspects? Things to know for someone OOS?
