I have been struggling between computer engineering and computer science as a potential field of study for quite some time. I know I won't have to choose my major until my soph. year, but some of the universities I was considering have separate colleges for different majors (engineering college obviously for engineering and liberal arts college for computer science).

I've seen USNWR rankings for undergraduate engineering colleges and programs, so if I went with engineering I'd have something to which I could refer. However, I'm starting to think now that computer science is a better fit for me, but I haven't found any rankings relating to that major, so I don't know what would be an ideal school for CS. It's not that I trust the rankings 100 percent, I just need some sort of reference point for schools. Do you guys know of any schools with respectable CS programs? I would just like a list of schools (both liberal arts and pure tech) in the Northeast that are worth checking out.

Also, would it be worth majoring in CS while attending the following schools: Fordham, SUNY Binghamton, Columbia, NYU, Cornell?

It's just a list of some schools in New York that came to mind (I live in NYC, so anything in the state is always good). I know Cornell is great for engineering, but is it just as good for CS?

Harvey Mudd College is a Liberal Arts College with top engineering and computer science programs, and you dont have to to worry about the majors being apart of a separate college. It is in southern California though.
