I just got an email saying that a Swarthmore admissions officer will be near where I live in a week and that there conducting interviews for prospective students. They're said to be approx. 20 mins long. Are these the interviews that are part of your Swarthmore application or are they "let's find out more about how to be a Swattie" interviews? (cause I haven't sent in my application yet...so I don't get how that would work)

Since this is an interview with a Swarthmore admissions officer, this will be an "official" interview that is part of the application process. Once you've had an admissions interview with an admissions officer, I'm pretty sure they would not schedule you for a later alumni interview. In general, interviews are not required, but they are highly recommended, as they help give the college an indication that you are very interested in Swarthmore. Good luck!
