760 Bio M
700 Math 2

I'll probably retake Math 2 in October, but I don't know if my Bio score is good enough for a prospective science major at UCLA. Since UCLA allows Score Choice for the SAT IIs now, even if I get a lower score on the Bio retake (assuming I take it in October with Math 2) I could always just send in my 760 and they wouldn't know about the lower score on the retake, right?
Gah, I'm so confused. Should I retake?

You don’t have to. Your scores look pretty good to me. I’m a incoming microbiology major and I took Math 2, U.S. History, and English Lit. I got a 480 on Math 2, 710 on U.S. Histpry, and a 560 on Eng Lit. I sent in all my scores and they must not have matter all that much since they accepted me. LOL :p

Did you have awesome ECs or something else that made you stand out though?

For Letters and Sciences I think they will accept you. I know someone who got in with an 1800 SAT I and that’s far more important than SAT II scores.

I got into UCLA as a Bio major (I couldn’t decide so just chose the broadest one lol) w/ really terrible SAT II scores. As in 670 in Bio, 500 in Lit, and 600 in Math 2. Yeah, I was stupid enough to send these scores and I was legitimately concerned whether I was going to get into any UC…

Anyway, as stated in previous threads, SAT II aren’t mandatory anymore so it’s not as important as SAT scores or GPA. My advice is to just focus on getting at least 2000 in SAT I and once you hit that, you can work on your essays and then the SAT II scores. Unless you’re going for something ridiculously competitive like engineering, I’d personally rank in order of importance: GPA = SAT I > (tho the diff isn’t that vast) essay > extracurricular > SAT II

Note that I’m definitely not an expert on this; I’m just basing it off from my experience and of my other friends. In my case, I had a tiny bit above avg GPA and SAT I scores (4.17 & 2190 respectively) while my essays were kind of subpar. I didn’t really do anything other than honors clubs and science lab stuff also. My friends were the same and they all got accepted into UCLA/Cal/USC.
