Prospective student from military.

So, after spending 3 1/2 years in the Army I have decided to get out and pursue a degree. The city I’m from has a poor community college, and I’m planning on attending SBCC for 2 years (hopefully) and then transferring out. I’ll be 22 when the fall semester starts, and I was wondering where the best places to live are? I do not have any friends that go here, so I was wondering whats the best housing plan for me. I would like to make friends and have a social life, but I understand that’s a little harder for community college.

Thanks for the help!

many kids living away from home and attending SBCC live in Isla Vista, same community adjoining UCSB that the UCSB students live in.

I wrote a post a while back that goes more into the advantages of attending SBCC at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-santa-barbara/468098-backdoor-way-to-get-into-ucsb.html that you might want to read. Some info is a little out of date (for example UCSB bought some of the private dorms) but it should give you a starting point.
