@YoonMiRae please contact the UW fiscal services for this question!
@Coriander23 thanks for helping students out in this thread! Appreciate it!
@forzajuve - Haha, no problem! Thanks for creating the thread, you’ve definitely helped out a ton of prospective students
I have pre-science listed as my major. Can I apply to CS after 1 year or 2 years? which is preferred?
@Vinvsv97 Earliest possible is applying in June for admission for fall.
@forzajuve will i be able to graduate in 4 years if i’m only able to switch after 2 years?
Yes. You need 180 credits to graduate.
Try getting 15-16 credits a quarter in the first two years. Mostly major classes are worth 3 credits, so you might wanna take other classes like VLPA/I&S with them. @vinvsv97
Would UW take back my acceptance if my AP score report has a couple of failing AP test scores on it (I only self-reported the ones I passed, I wasn’t good at taking AP tests initially lol) I can’t pick and choose my 2014 scores that I want to send since it’s past the deadline, so I have to send the whole report to get college credit for the ones I did pass, even though the report includes my failing scores as well.
Does UW subtract all of the tuition from financial aid first before giving you the amount left or do they only subtract the first quarter’s tuition fees?
@YoonMiRae please contact the UW fiscals services for this.
@ferdinand32 My answer is just a speculation, but no they will not take back acceptances. UW does not look at AP scores when reviewing applications for admission, so low AP scores will not change anything. They probably just want you to send everything to see where you might be placed and which classes you can waive.
@student197 Alright, I’ll send them my whole score report anyways since I definitely do want the credits for my other test scores. Thanks!
Does anyone know the percentage (or any estimate) of students that get accepted into the psychology and bioengineering majors when they apply for it? I know they are both competitive but that’s all I know
Is there a way i can join right in the summer quarter. I had applied and been accepted for autumn quarter
@executor unfortunately not. The first thing you did on your application was to apply for the Fall. The second thing is that before you can start your classes, you need to attend the mandatory FIUTS orientation that’s write when you have to arrive in Seattle.
What do students generally bring to classes? The standard binder + paper? Their laptop/tablet? I know it probably varies class to class and person to person, but some general feedback would be appreciated.
@executor earliest you can do is efs or early fall start. You can take one class worth 5 credits.usually students either take English or some VLPA class
@futurepanic Totally depends on you. They encourage you to use whatever you are comfortable with. Some don’t like to take notes since a lot of classes upload slides. But tablets and notebooks are usually what people use.
What are the advantages of early fall start? What are the disadvantages?
I did Early Fall Start and would highly recommend it. The obvious disadvantage is that you start school a month earlier than everyone else, but chances are, most of your friends on the semester system will have left for college anyway so the timing isn’t really that bad.
You’ll get to meet other freshmen and familiarize yourself with campus, and it’s basically a guaranteed A as long as you show up. Participating in EFS also means that you only have to take 10 credits fall quarter to remain a full-time student and be on track for graduation (theoretically, you could even get away with taking 7). I think it’s worth it.
