prospective students with legacy

how much impact does legacy have on admissions? I am a rising seniors, my dad went to GW and my brother currently attends GW. GW is one of my top choices. I might either apply early decision, but i also want to keep my options open with other school.

in general how would you say GW looks into legacy as a determining factor into an application, where in this case my brother would still be attending the school when i apply and my father has graduated from there

I think GW likes siblings and legacies- are you otherwise qualified?

Also-did you know that you’ll pay 1/2 tuition while your brother is there?

My brother and I are academically very similar. We both do full IB, have similar GPA, and around the same SAT scores coincidentally.

Yes I am aware of the 1/2 tuition as long as my brother attends the school.

I am just curious to know how much of an edge does legacy give a person when applying when you fall just about “average” in the pool of applicants. Can it be a determining factor for acceptance at GW?

[Admissions process favors legacies - News](http://media.www.gwhatchet.com/media/storage/paper332/news/2011/02/07/News/Admissions.Process.Favors.Legacies-3974159.shtml)

Looks like it gives a small edge, but not as much as some other universities.
