Prospective Syracuse MT student

Hello! I’m a high school senior this year and I have my Syracuse audition in January! I have a few questions.

  1. What is the freshman year like at Syracuse? What classes do you take? What is the balance like between academics and your major?
  2. How personal are the classes? Do the teachers give you specific critiques on your performance?
  3. What is some advice that you wish you had gotten before you auditioned?
  4. What made you choose Syracuse?

My child is a Syracuse freshman. Loves every minute of training there. No academic classes due to AP Test results. Will take class next semester for a minor. I believe there needs to be 24 or 28 academic credits for graduation. The classes are small and advice and critiques flow freely. There is constant feedback between instructors and students. The classes are very close knit. After all the acceptances and comparing things equally, the ability to work at Syracuse stage and earn equity points and the tepper semester tipped the scales for us.

Thank you so much!!

Does anyone know how many MT kids Syracuse is looking for and how many Acting kids Syracuse is looking for this year? And how many kids they will audition this year?

I don’t know that Syracuse reveals how many kids they audition. I believe they aim for classes of 20-24 for both acting and MT.

Just thought that I would let everyone know. During the Q&A they said they will see around 1,200 kids and they want 23 MTs and 23 Actors. He did not say if they got 1,200 applications in total or if 1,200 made it past the prescreen. It was vague, but at least he gave numbers.
