haha... I think that Protestants and Catholics are sooo close that I don't get the whole... I feel sorry for you thing... Both Protestants and Catholics believe the same things... possibly minus a little bit for the Protestants...

I think that maybe you just met a few Protestants that weren't the friendliest people, but that doesn't mean that they are all like that.

^ Of course, it’s just my impression, but I have received that sentiment a lot from Protestants. But of course, I’m not saying all are like that, that would be stupid.

Doesn't really matter. Real christians are in both protestant and catholic denominations. I would rather concentrate on serving Christ rather than tooling with denominations.
As a fact, I'm visiting Baptist church so I can consider myself a baptist but I'm still a christian above anything.

OMG please go back and read my post on page 2... none of this is very Christian...which we all are. Protestants and Catholics are like siblings: same beliefs, but too close to get along! I'm a cradle Catholic and I know we have not been perfect over the last 2000 years nor are we perfect now. Some of my best friends are Protestant , one is even a minister. We have healthy discussions but respect each others choices and know essentially we believe in Christ choose to follow his teachings. There are ignorant Catholics and ignorant Protestants, don't be one by labeling each other.

I know, I have a protestant minister as a friend too as well as a lot of protestant friends and the proper description is like siblings. all this really is sibling rivalry

On homosexuality
"Although the particular inclination of the homosexual person is not a sin, it is a more or less strong tendency ordered toward an intrinsic moral evil; and thus the inclination itself must be seen as an objective disorder. Therefore special concern and pastoral attention should be directed toward those who have this condition, lest they be led to believe that the living-out of this orientation in homosexual activity is a morally acceptable option. It is not."

On Buddhism
"Auto-erotic spirituality."

The ordination of women
On the excommunication of seven women who called themselves priests: "... the penalty imposed is not only just, but also necessary, in order to protect true doctrine, to safeguard the communion and unity of the church, and to guide consciences of the faithful."

On same-sex marriage
"Call[s] into question the family, in its natural two-parent structure of mother and father, and make[s] homosexuality and heterosexuality virtually equivalent, in a new model of polymorphous sexuality."

On rock music
"[A] vehicle of anti-religion"; "the complete antithesis of the Christian faith in the redemption."

On cloning
"[A] more dangerous threat than weapons of mass destruction."

Again I'm not even Christian and what he's saying is just standard issue stuff here. Or are you trying to start a fight about whether religion is right or not? Either way stop trolling the thread.

"What do you think of Buddhists, Hindus, Pagans, etc.? Are you able to discuss religious ideas with them?"

"What about MUSLIMS?"

Actually, as a Catholic, I very often find it easier -- and more rewarding -- to discuss religion with Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, etc, than I do with Protestants. I have some great friends who are practicing Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and Hindus, and somehow we are able to dialogue on religious matters with surprising ease, mutual grace, and a spirit of true friendship and love.

With most of the Protestants that I have been engaged with in religious discussion, however, there always seems to be a disaproving air emoting from them regarding my Catholicism. You just know what's coming. "Would you like to come to my church?"

I have to agree with Fides completely. Being protestant myself, I don't differ catholics from protestants in terms of christianity and am quite negative on invitations to church. In fact, I really think that preaching should go by your own example: save yourself and others around will be saved without your words.

For those that consider Muslims animals: please don't forget that Muslims are praising same God as christians: Allah is described in Jewish religion as Ellah, if my memory is quite good.
