Thank you, that is exactly the path we are taking. Personally hoping she loves Penn!

^ [Me too, but let’s not tell her.] ;)

LOL, parents!! I’m a proud parent of an accepted student to Penn, Yale, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Duke…as crazy as it sounds my son got 10 acceptances out of 11 and has narrowed it to 3. Tomorrow he’s flying to Penn for Quaker Days, Next week he’s flying to NY to visit Columbia and finally the 22nd going to Yale. In all three he’s staying 2 nights and it’ll be interesting to hear his choice.

After Quaker Days my D is 99% of the way there…she just can’t commit yet. I think it’s because her situation is close to Saona63 - accepted to 10 of 11 also! But her other top choices are Northwestern and Tufts.

^ Best of luck to her! She really can’t go wrong with any of those!

@mjd1395 While Penn does have a questionnaire while applying for housing, the room assignments are done through a computer lottery process. I’m not sure how that takes into account the very subjective questionnaire…

Is it better for the students to find roommates on their own @ UPENN?

The school did an excellent job of finding roommates for my D. She is best friends with one of them now.

Ok. Great. DD is still undecided…

@saona63 So what is the final decision for your son of all the great choices he has? What was his experience at Quaker Days?

@overseasmom My dear son chose Yale!

Congratulations to him and to you We wish him all the best over the next 4 years and beyond!!

Penn is official - paid the deposit last week. Now she’s finishing up the housing questionnaire and essays…

^ Congrats! Welcome to the Penn family! :)

That is great news picktails. Congrats to you both.

People are already talking about dorm shopping…we just finished housing application!

Has anyone gone to, or is going to, graduation? Can you tell me what to expect? Can I bring a purse? What if it rains? How early should I get there?

If you haven’t already seen it, this page will answer many of your questions (and includes both a video of last year’s commencement and a brochure about this year’s):

<a href=“Home | University of Pennsylvania Commencement”>http://www.upenn.edu/commencement/

@45 Percenter Do you know if there is ever any overlap in the times of any of the ceremonies for the different programs?

See the third page of the brochure on the page to which I linked above:

http://www.upenn.edu/commencement/brochure2/index.html

It looks like the only potential overlap would be for SEAS and Nursing on Monday afternoon. Of course, the actual commencement for the entire university (including the formal conferring of degrees, albeit not individual diplomas) is on Monday morning, at a time when none of the individual school ceremonies are scheduled.
