Orientation is coming up next week and I pretty much have my schedule mapped out, although I guess it could change. But with my tentative schedule, the only Econ 101 section that works is the one taught by Proulx. Now I know he's worse than Gerson and Malone and apparently is a pretty terrible teacher but I think it's still a good thing I have him. Can anyone tell me if my logic makes any sense at all?

I took AP Micro Senior year of high school, so I know at least the basics.

His teaching won't be so terrible because I'll already know a bit what he is talking about.

Since the course is graded on a curve, a quarter of the students are guaranteed an A. I've read that each teacher grades on his/her own section. Hopefully I'll be a part of that quarter because I'll be coming in with previous knowledge while many others won't, and won't have a clue what he's talking about. With Malone and Gerson, they'd actually teach the people that don't know much already and it'd be tougher competition.
Does #3 make any sense?

All the econ sections will take the same tests. I haven’t heard of Proulx, but your results will be curved with Gerson and Malone students. To the extent that you are not as prepared that could hurt you. That being said, AP micro at my school prepared me pretty well for UM. AP marco was a bit different, but you don’t have to worry about that yet!

Proulx is definetely the worse Econ professor. Not only in Econ 101, but even in the upper level econ classes! Try Gerson or Malone, they are definetely better but not extraordinary as everybody says.

Proulx is a good teacher. I had him last fall for Econ 101. Anyone who says he is a bad teacher is just too lazy to focus or doesn’t put in anytime to their schoolwork. Attend his lectures and review the concepts and the class is a breeze.

Don’t worry about Proulx, as long as you read the book you can get an A as it’s written by Gerson and Malone. Attending lecture is unnecessary, just hope for a decent GSI because discussion sections are more relevant to exams and also they are where your quizzes will be given.

My schedule worked out that I got Gerson anyways. Thanks though
