So this year (10th grade), I will be participating in an application based summer research program and at least two MOOC courses, and am volunteering at a local hospital . All (academic) offer certificates of completion, the summer program might offer an evaluation, and all three (academic) may or may not provide a grade. The hospital will provide a transcript with your number of hours upon request.

So when filling out my college app, do I need to to keep evidence of completion for all of this, or do I just have to list them? Like when I applied for the summer program, it said "List any extracurriculars in order of importance and provide a description of each." I'm assuming the summer program+MOOCs would go in the addition information section on the common app, but still don't know if I need evidence or not.

Probably not but I would keep them. You never know if requirements will change. Plus, for some scholarships you may need them. Frankly, there is volunteer hour inflation on applications and I know of two students at my daughters school who were in fact asked to document their hours from two top schools. I’m sure they weren’t the only two. So, if your going to have a lot, which you will, I would just cover my bases.

Not that it would hurt at all, but for student council, they have a quota for service hours to be in “good standing.” I met the quota last semester but won’t be able to this semester. I doubt this would ever be put on the app, correct?

No you don’t need evidence, if they think you are making up some outrageous scheme or something they would contact you or your activity. Don’t worry about the good standing thing, I wouldn’t bother including that.

Agreed, colleges do not ask for back up. And quite frankly anyone can print up almost any type of certificate on their computer these days. I’d keep the certificate filed in your desk drawer.
