Confused - proof of extracurriculars/awards?

Hi there! Thank you in advance for helping me out :)

I was browsing the Common App today but realized there was no section that requires proof or documentation of extracurricular activities/awards.

Do they not care enough about activities/awards to ask for proof?

I am asking because recently I was accepted to a selective summer program. I was going to write it down as one of my summer experiences, and ask my professor at the program to write a quick letter to verify my attendance at the program.

However, I couldn't find a spot on the Common App that lets us upload verification documents or letters.

Does that mean we don't need to provide verification for activities/awards?

What about volunteer hours? I've been keeping a log of volunteer hours since my freshman year. How do I send them my proof of hours then?

Does this mean that adcoms don't care enough about activities/awards to ask for proof?

I'd appreciate any feedback; thank you!

I don’t believe there is any sort of verification process, unfortunately…enabling students like Adam Wheeler and a few upperclassmen friends of mine to get into top schools with some fabricated EC’s.

Yep, they just take your word for it – and everyone else’s too.

Does that mean we don’t need to provide verification for activities/awards? RIGHT

What about volunteer hours? I’ve been keeping a log of volunteer hours since my freshman year. How do I send them my proof of hours then? YOU DON’T, THEY DON’T WANT YOUR LOG

Does this mean that adcoms don’t care enough about activities/awards to ask for proof? MOSTLY CORRECT

About 85% of colleges don’t give any weight to your ECs. Those that do, only spectacular ones (that can be easily verified) are of much meaning.
