when you guys signed up to take the ACT, did most of you give your ssn.
Is it even important? It says on the admission ticket that colleges use it to match the ACT scores. I could just give my ssn to the ACT org. when im applying for college, right? could someone explain

p.s.
for identification, is it alright to use the school i.d. from this year because wouldn't it be expired if the school year ended?

Yes.

On the ACT, it is very important.

When you get your scores, it enables it to verify that they're YOUR scores not some other person's.

i didnt give my ssn, but i know 4 APs if you have given it before you have to give it again for consistency but im not really sure if its the same deal for the ACT

or maybe its if you are sending scores to any particular colleges cuz i took it once b4 and never had to give my ssn

You do it only during registration. I think it is somewhat optional. But, when I orginally registered for the ACT, I chose to omit it. And, I had a lot of issues editing my info due to that. So, just put in your SSN and save yourself the effort.

hmmm...i didn't put my ssn on my SAT - but won't colleges be able to match up your test score info with your application info (like legal name, address, school, etc)?

No, they can. But, you might have issues with the ACT site as I had last year where it refused me access to certain pages saying Error: Must enter SSN (despite the fact it's optional).. I had to get into contact with the ACT people to add my SSN so the message would go away.

wow, first time i hear this. i've never provided my ssn (i don't have it memorized and i am too lazy to get it out) but i've never had problems with scores, colleges, etc. I think I should start writing it then just in case.

yeah..i've never written my SSN anywhere. I don't even know what it is lol. i don't think it matters. its just there just in case u don't get ur scores or something..

Don't worry, you do not have to give your SSN for any of these test and you need to get in the habit of not giving it out except to like a bank. Don't give it for applications in general.

I think you did well by not giving it to them. They can easily find you by your name and address.
