I learned that a US passport would be sufficient to prove my citizenship(the SS administration could not confirm it). However, I found that my passport expired in September of 2010. Is this still considered a valid proof, or am I pretty much screwed here.

How did you prove your citizenship when you got the passport?

My parents became a citizen when I was around 8 years old. They went through the whole process and etc. to become a citizen, and I got my passport through them.

Even an expired US passport is proof of citizenship. If you need a new passport your expired one is what you would send in with your application. You can also use it as proof of citizenship for work purposes.

If you have an expired passport, it is sufficient to prove you are an American citizen.
