i have a couple of questions about the provost scholarships of full tuition at UIUC. it says on the website that about 30 are given out and to qualify you must be a National Achievement, National Hispanic finalist, or a National Merit Finalist.

first of all, does anyone know if these scholarships have been awarded yet?

and second of all, I've won one of NMSC's $2500 scholarships (making me a National Merit Scholar, not a finalist), so would that make me ineligible for this scholarship at UIUC?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

leapinlizards…I don’t think you’re ineligible for the Provost scholarship. It appears from UIUC’s website that the Provost is an “unofficial” National Merit scholarship, which means it’s totally administered by the University. There is a seperate National Merit Award which requires the student to name UIUC as their first choice university with NMSC, and that scholarship would be considered an “official” NMSC award. The $2500 scholarship which you were awarded is your “official” NMSC award, but UIUC can still award you the Provost if they so choose. Congrats on your $2500, and Good Luck with the Provost!!

thanks wolverine!

now if i could just find someone who has some idea of if/when they’re awarded!
