If the applicant for freshman admission to MIT has taken college classes while in high school, does MIT need an official transcript from the college? or would it be sufficient if the college classes are recorded on the high school transcript? If MIT does require official college transcripts, what is the appropriate way to provide them?
Thanks for your help!
One part of the application says something like “tell us about your cultural background in 100 words or less in the space below.”
What if the applicant is just a regular caucasian with an unremarkable cultural background?
Does one still fill that section in, or is its purpose more to clarify an unusual racial/ethnic/cultural background?
I left it blank. My essay for the question that asks you to describe the world you come from pretty much answered this question too. But many people have interesting culture that would make them seem different then if they just checked a box. You can check Caucasian but you can be Jewish with unique traditions or you can check Asian but there are many different Asian cultures. Here you can be specific and stand out from the crowd.
@rothstem thanks!
Is the research mentor recommendation submitted through Slideroom an online process? or is a pdf of a physical letter from the research mentor uploaded? In other words, does the research mentor receive a link (as do the math and science teachers) that enables him/her to type the recommendation online? Thanks.
