and also, do u guys remember the writing questions about bach? was it no error or “was dependent on”?

Can u remember the entire question?

no completely, but it went something like this:

…bach was dependent on the generosity of patrons…

so far
CR- 5misses
Writing-3misses
Math-1 miss

Do you guys think that this will be enough to make semifinalist in illinois? (cutoff-214)

I put NE for the bach question

butterman, i think that equates to a 70 cr, 71 writing and 77 math, which adds up to a 218. so yeah you’ll make it :]

if it’s NE, then dam i missed it

What’s wrong with “was dependent on”? like why did u think that?

Why was the demographics question scope? The line reference they gave you said “though the survey results were skewed (or something like that), the demographic thing does show that reading literature has gone down…” and then the next paragraph starts with, “but what does that really tell us…” The demographic thing he references here wouldn’t be referring to scope, would it? If so, then I missed it completely :)

i was really contemplating that and NE, but “was dependent on” sounded awkward at the time (now it sounds just fine -_-).

“Was dependent on” seems gramatically correct to me. I think some people found it awkward because it was in the imperfect tense and not the past tense (which is more commonly used).

Also, anyone mind telling me exactly what the 2f(something)+f(something) question was?

no the Bach question was No error, it was quite poorly worded though.

My question was about the Math XYZ question.

Did the question specify that X Y and Z had to be integers?
Because I know that if they don’t then it is just II and III but if so then it was all three.

And the 2f(x)-f(x) was 7

Yes, XYZ had to be integers. The answer was I,II and III.
I got that one wrong.

melaf - I know that was the answer, but what was the question? xD

Sorry, *melag

I bought the Direct Hits few days ago, and I was able to study the first 30 words in “Core” version of the book, and about 10 words out of first 30 came up on the PSAT. I was like, “wow!” Lol.

oh alright thanks, yeah I got that one wrong too, but the Bach one? I have no idea it was such a badly constructed sentence I just remember that I went through and nothing was wrong.

It wasnt the best sentence but I still think NE

Does anyone have a compiled list of the NO ERROR questions?

there was one writing question in the (improving sentences) part where there was the phrase “comprises more than …(something, i forgot what :P)” now, isnt “comprises” by itself a wrong term? doesnt it have to be “comprises of”? prepositonal error maybe

i dont think that the one about diligent and punctual was right because punctual means being on time

Left blank

I answered that there was ONE other
point.

This problem has been driving me up
a wall. I put 2/3. I am pretty sure that’s
the correct answer. How sure are you
of the wording?

I answered .5. It worked when I graphed it.
