@spkrap322
all i remember is that i put B for that one.

@Astroblue what was the concession question?

what were the possible answers for that?

…I don’t remember that one…

Homogeneous doesnt answer the question. The question was something like which of the following views do both authors seem to agree on about sprawlings. They described them using similar words, but the general view of the sprawlings was outdated

spkrap322, do you remember what the two sentences were?

“That the thieves failed to sell all of the stolen artwork showed that the black market was shrinking.” <- Let’s focus on making this the original sentence and then debate about the answer.

Edit: The answer was definitely homogeneous. It was definitely NOT outdated.

I’m still sticking with you greenmamba

I also got that. Yay! I’m excited because this is my first PSAT and I think I did well. Unlike most people on here it seems I am just going to be happy with whatever I get.

@Upennvetgirl727 That was the question with the life on mars thing and the passage was something like “discovery of water, though in the form of permafrost,…” and it definitely came down to retraction or concession in the end.

Greenmamba20, the second passage’s author doesn’t view it as outdated though. In the passage, it said that the sprawls would be admired or whatever in the future. If they are useful/admired in the future, then they aren’t obsolete, which is what outdated means…

That the thieves failed to sell all of the stolen artwork shows that the black market has shrunk.

You know the part where it says “water has been discovered on Mars, albeit in the form of permafrost”
And the question was like, which rhetorical device does teh author use here?
I only know two of the answers were retraction and concession.

@Aj39vn23cf2 The sentence was something like this: That the thieves failed to sell all of the stolen artwork they had smuggled out of Sicily showed that the market for stolen antiquities has shrunk

Greenmamba you are wrong. Neither of them emphasized the AGE of the neighborhoods, but rather the similarity of all the houses, or their homogeneous nature.

concession. Hes conceding to an opposing viewpoint that would say 'The water was only permafrost, your argument is wrong. By doing this the author kind of made the opposing viewpoint less powerful if it were to be mentioned later.

“That the thieves failed to sell all of the stolen artwork showed that the black market was shrinking.” <— the original sentence had “has shrunk” instead of “was shrinking.”

Can someone post the recession and concession one? i remember the mars paragraph just not any questions. Fill me in?

@AstroBlue It was concession, he concedes that the water is permafrost

The thieves one definitely said shows rather than showed

yea in fact, passage 2 stated that the sprawls would end up being tourist sites for the people of the future. It suggests that sprawls are old, but not outdated.

Another vote for homogenous. In my opinion, it was the clear answer.
