PSAT 2011 Wednesday Answer Thread

I SWEAR if I got the shrunk question wrong and the curve for writing is -1=74 or some bull I’m going to flip…

but it could be… the rest of the writing seemed really easy…

Found an answers list on 29. Not sure if the latest.

i agree that the whole writing seemed easy but it seems there were a few problems that stumped some people… hopefully the curve isnt too bad I missed the ceasar salad one :O

texas cutoff last year was a 219****
given the difficulty or lack of difficulty in this test
what would you say for a minus one or two in math and writing
and a minus 5-7 in critical reading?

I missed the Parliament one and the has shrunk one. blehblehbleh whatever. Still made cutoff.

anybody remember the Misanthropic and pedestrian vocab sentences? or other options im having a hard timer recollecting those

So far I’m looking at -2.0 or -3.25 on CR, -2.25 or -3.5 on math, and -2.25 on writing. One of the writings I got wrong was the thief/black market question.

All of my math was stupid, stupid mistakes.

@Dannylee: Misanthropic was some girl was ______: she didn’t trust and disliked people. Something like that.

Can’t recall pedestrian, though.

OK, so do we need to review the Thieves artwork question? The original consensus was No Error, but a lot of people have doubts now.

Does anyone know when we are going to get our scores back?

Early December. Which is absolutely ridiculous.

For the controversial math question, my form was:

If x<y<0, then which of the following MUST be true:

I. x+3<y+2 ii.="" 3x<2y="" iii.="" (x="" y)="">1</y+2>

I got I, II, and III

[EDIT] it’s “x+3”, thanks mascara

^ except my school doesnt give it to us until January. suhweet.

checekd some past curves

-5 was bare 70 in cr

It was x+3, by the way, but I agree.

does anybody recall the other options for the “misanthropic” question.

Random CR curves:
-0: 80 80 80 80 80
-1: 78 78 80 80 80
-2: 75 76 77 76 77
-3: 73 74 76 84 85
-4: 72 73 74 73 74
-5: 70 71 72 72 73

(Note: they are all from past PSAT exams)

I must be imagining it or have been hallucinating while taking my test, but I could have sworn my question was:

If x<y<0, then which of the following MUST be true:

I. x+2<y+2
II. 3x<2y
III. (x/y) < 0

and there was no answer choice for I, II, and III. I thusly chose I and II.

Can everyone else confirm what there test was?

-5 was 68 four years ago…

@override, dude i feel the exact same way. I know I, II, III wasn’t an option because when i discovered I and II to be true I didnt even look at III.
