PSAT 2011 Wednesday General Discussion

I also put passionate. I was second guessing myself so I looked at the first passage, and it seemed much more objective and matter-of-fact than passionate.

at mini1kim, yes, I’m confident it was.

Yep it was channel

I still can’t see that passage as passionate.

Here is how my test went

Reading

These are some the hard words I remember

gratuitious
ruse and artifice
alacrity
bellicosity and gambit

for the passages
the house ones
what was similarity of the decription of houses in the passages?
a.outdated
e.homogenous (thats what I put)

Compared to passage 2 author of passage one is
I put critical

The biographer one with the lady’s book

understatement and personification
understandable but regretful (something along those lines)

The duncan and mo one killed me.

I believe I put outdated on that one. Homogenous buildings would have contradicted the first passage.

math (the tough ones)

I think it was 30 with the players in the tournament.

I got 1/x^3 as the lowest possible if -1<x<0

I got 11 for the triangle one

with the males and females in the company. I got c k/2k -n something like that

free response
For the very last one with the a, a, b, c, c I got a+c = 35. Pretty sure on this one.
For

For the functions one f(x) = 1/3x + something g(x) = x- 2 what was the shared y coordinate. I got 5.5

I missed two ommited 3 overall. Really dumb mistakes.

Math I think you got everything write except maybe 14 (idk).
Writing i agree with your eel answer.
Reading I got homogenous, and forgot the rest

Writing

Dont know what to say but a few here and there were tricky. The last paragraph question stumped me(what whould be best to add to 6-15) cause I usually ace them.

Then there was the eel one. eel’s have organs which enable not enables

I remember some more questions but those are the ones which come to me first.

Quite a memory. On the 15 one I believe I put -(1/x). That would technically be less, correct?

Oh wait, I take that back. I don’t remember exactly what I put on that question.

The tournament thing had to be 30. I worked it graphically, and [(65)/2]2=30.

The one about the number being the least was 1/x^3 because when a number is between 0 and -1, higher, odd powers in the denominator make its absolute value greater, thereby less because the number was negative.

Yeah I believe that was homogenous, because both authors are acknowledging that sprawling is happening everywhere

it was outdated, not homogenous. in the first it was explicit, in the second they used “vintage” or something of the sort… homogenous was not referenced in the second.

why was the last grid in 35?
I thought Median was 20 and mean was 30… →
2a + 2c +20 = 150 → a+c=65?

what do you guys expect the curves will look like for CR, W, and M?

I put homogenous. Didn’t both call the buildings and developments “cookie cutter”?

Guys there is an answer thread by the way. No need to clog up the discussion thread.

95+% of the answers in the answer thread are probably correct

nah bruh. The question was if x is between -1 and 0 or -1<x<0 which of the following is the least?

a. 1/-x
b. 1/-x^2
c.
d.1/1/-x
e. 1/-x^3 (right answer)

I Picked -.5

-.5^3 = -.125 and 1/-.125 = -8 the lowest

yo are you guys sure that the one where f(x) = x/3 + 3 and f(x)=x-2 asked for the y-coordinate? i thought it asked for x-coordinate and put 7.5. god ■■■ i always get 800 on math. i missed both the isoceles triangle one and this one…

evanh14- i used the exact same reasoning…
cant afford to get anymore wrong …gah

What is a general score estimate of 3 wrong, one from each section, and 2 blanks in reading and 1 blank in writing?
