For those who have already received their PSAT, what is the curve?

As in what is -1, -2,-3, -3 for math, reading, writing?

For those who have already received their PSAT, what is the curve?

As in what is -1, -2,-3, -3 for math, reading, writing?

-1 math is 760

-2 cr is 78. -2 writing is 70

Please note Wednesday or Saturday. The curves are usually different.

Woah. -2 for Writing is a 70? That’s much worse than last year.

Yeah, that’s a truly terrible curve. I’m hoping I didn’t miss any…

-2 writing is a 70??? Wednesday or Saturday testing? Anyone else have more info on the writing?

Actually, -2 in writing last year was a also a 70. (I took both the 2011 and 2012 tests on Saturday and got 2 wrong in writing each time.)

How bad is the curve after that? -4 would be a 65 maybe?

Oh man, this is scary… I’m assuming I missed 1 reading and 1 math, but I have no idea about writing… That’s an awful curve…

Based on my files of PSAT answer keys, after the initial two problems, the curve usually smoothens out. (meaning that it won’t be -5 points per problem.) Take a look at last years’ PSAT raw/scaled score chart: for writing, -1 problem was 75, -2 was 70, but -3 (if at least one were omitted instead of incorrect) was 69 and -4 was 68. Writing always has the harshest curve at the top, but once four or so problems are incorrect, it will decline at around -1 or -2 scaled points per additional incorrect answer.

Missing one reading will most likely result in an 80, based on historical trends. (2004-2011 tests)

Historically, the math curve is more messy, but missing one will likely result in a 76 or 77, but it has been as low as 75 and as high as 79. This is pure speculation, but I felt that the math was kind of easy this year, so I’d bet to -1 being a 76 on both Saturday and Wednesday tests. Just like the writing curve, it will smooth out and start only deducting 1 or 2 points after three or four incorrect answers.

does anyone know what a -3 (all three skipped) in CR is?
and -2 (both skipped) for math?

Last year I missed 2 writing questions and got a 71…70 isn’t a generous curve but not extraordinarily harsh

Yeah, I thought -2 on Wednesday’s PSAT last year was a 71.

Oh well.

Got scores back, the curve is real nasty. 4 wrong was a 70 for CR. 4 wrong for Math a 64.

Could you guys PLEASE specify whether you took the PSAT on Wednesday or Saturday when you post? It would help a lot.

What percentile is a 200 on the past this time?!?!?

Not past, PSAT

My D in Oklahoma took Wednesday test. -2 CR = 77, -9 Math = 61, -2 W = 72

200 was the 96 percentile for the Wednesday PSAT
