PSAT 8/9

Hey I was just wondering what a good score is for the PSAT 8/9 for a 6th grader.

It is not scored out of 1600 as the SAT is. As a 6th grader, go by percentile. If you are happy with your percentile, then consider it a win. If you’re taking it for placement, ask your school what the cut-offs are.

I haven’t seen percentiles listed for other than 8th and 9th graders, as this is the intended cohort for the test. https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/psat-8-9-understanding-scores-fall.pdf

TIP publishes averages for grades 4-6, but this is for a set of students that are supposed to be performing in the top 5% to qualify to take the test through TIP - https://tip.duke.edu/sites/default/files/atoms/files/456gts-psat89-score-results-summary.pdf

6th grade is too early to be worrying about test scores though. They don’t really mean a lot.
