PSAT curve predictions

These are just my predictions, so feel free to modify them to better aid people.

Math: relatively easy, so a pretty harsh curve i think
-0 80
-1 76
-2 74
-3 72
-4 71
-5 69
-6 66
-7 64

Critical Reading: it was ok, not difficult, but not easy per say
-0 80
-1 80
-2 78
-3 76
-4 74
-5 73
-6 71
-7 69
-8 67
-9 64

Writing: was relatively difficult, so hopefully a more lenient curve
-0 80
-1 80
-2 77
-3 75
-4 73
-5 72
-6 70
-7 67
-8 65

Just my thoughts on what I think the scale might be

The writing curve is definitely to lenient.

That looks like a bit too lenient of a writing curve. CR and math look accurate.

Yeah, writing is wayyy too lenient.

CR and writing are both way too lenient lol, though that CR curve looks nice. :P

I believe there has only been one Writing curve (from the Alternate 05 PSAT) that has had -1 equaling an 80. So that might be too lenient. However, I think CR will be even more lenient than what you have: a -2= 80.

I cleaned up on CR and W I though (although not positive on W, it could have been a disaster)

For the supposedly “easy” math section I got destroyed. I normally score around a 680 but not here.

I think -1 M would be more around 77 than 76. It wasn’t that easy.

W is a bit too lenient and CR looks good.

Math was easy, but not too easy. Agreed, should be a 77.
Writing is too lenient, like everyone else said. I’d say a 79 or 78, but not an 80.
Critical reading looks about right, though. But I’m really bad at CR, so I can’t tell for sure.

I hope this curve is correct. If so, I have a good chance of making it past the CA cutoff.

Ok, so these are the edited curves:

Math: relatively easy, so a pretty harsh curve i think
-0 80
-1 77
-2 74
-3 73
-4 71
-5 69
-6 66
-7 64

Critical Reading:
-0 80
-1 80
-2 78 ; in case -2 is 80: (this curve would be amazing)
-3 76 ; 78
-4 74 ; 76
-5 73 ; 74
-6 71 ; 72
-7 69 ; 70
-8 67
-9 64

Writing:
-0 80
-1 79
-2 76
-3 74
-4 73
-5 71
-6 70
-7 67
-8 65

3 wrong on CR = -4 raw, right?
So 4 wrong on CR would be -5…
Ugh. I know I got 3 questions wrong on CR. I need 70+ on CR and I think I’ve locked a 220+

Writing is okay compared to other psats, so I think the curve won’t be that lenient
More than half of CR is easy (aka section 3), so section 1 is the usual standard of other psats- curve won’t be that hard either
math relatively easy according to people, but for me I think I miss around 3-5. So if the curve is good on math then yay me. but meh…

I think writing was freaking easy

-0 80
-1 76
-2 73
-3 71
-4 69

Can someone explain how to calculate the raw score?

For example, I know I got 3 wrong and 1 omitted in Writing, so what wold the score be, -4?

The curve on the practice psat should probably be a good indication of the actual curve

Any updates on curve guesses?

I think Math sounds about right.
I missed one for making a terribly stupid mistake :frowning:

Writing was easy for me, but there were definitely some for which I had to mull over a few times. I remember thinking about one of them being pretty tricky, and if you didn’t pay close attention, you would have slipped up.
I’m praying that -1 on writing is at least a 78, because I think that’s the most I could have missed.

As for CR… Dear Collegeboard, please, won’t you please, have mercy.
I think I missed like 6 or so… Hmmm…
-2 = 80 would be an early Christmas present.

So do we have to equate the quarter of a point times question wrong when we look at these curves?

Cause if not, I think I have an exact 220.

On W, I always miss the dumbest ones…
CR was by far the easiest for me. If -2 is 80 then I could be looking for at an 80 which would make my life worth it!!!
