I hope that the math curve is unforgiving, but reading and writing curves are lenient.

Why would you want any curve to be unforgiving?

Crap, I’m thinking I may have missed at most 3 on writing now.
-1 = 78
-2 = 76
-3 = 74
please? :)

no way i got 2 wrong on 2008 PSAT and got 80 so lenient writing curve

I missed one maybe 2 in CR but 6-8 on Math.
Guesses for my scores?

770 cr, 690 m.

That’s not possible. -1 was not an 80 regardless of which day you took it.

Source: PSAT scaled score conversion chart from CB

If anyone wants to know last year -1 in math yielded a 79, -5 (so 4 questions wrong) in critical reading yielded a 70, and -5 (so 4 questions wrong) in writing yielded a 70. I think your cr and wr curves look a bit too lenient, but then again I didn’t take this test so I wouldn’t really be able to judge the difficulty.

how many could you miss on math and get a 700+?

^ I’m guessing 3. M section in this test was easier than PSATs from previous years, imo. I’m pretty sure -1 will yield a 76. 75 if unlucky, 77 if lucky

$hiiitttt, i missed atleast 6, probably like 8… I normally get around 70’s on math but I just messed up so many times. I thought it was sooo much harder than CR. If I miss 8 will i still be above 60?

^yes, even 12 wrong is 60 or somewhere close, I think.

I thought that the critical reading section was fairly easy, math was quite easy, and writing difficult, in comparison to other psats Ive taken. The curves look accurate except for the critical reading, Id make it a bit harsher.

Math: about as easy as the practice test, which was really easy.

Critical Reading: I thought the CR was relatively difficult, but I had not taken a PSAT CR section since last year’s PSAT.

Writing: I didn’t think the writing was very difficult… harder than last year though.

Just my guess. :p

I seem to remember the curves being slightly more harsh that most of the predictions, though. -3 Writing was a 70 (-1 75?). Ouch.

Last year’s Form S writing was like this:

-0 80
-1 75
-2 70

So it can be pretty bad.

Last year’s form W Writing; however,was :

-0 80
-1 79
-2 75
-3 73
-4 71
-5 70

big dif. from Form S lol

but nevertheless I agree with 314159265’s statement.

Btw, are the curves for the PSAT predetermined or are they based on a bell curve

^The SAT curves are neither pre-determined nor based on a bell curve. I would expect that the PSAT curves work in the same way.

Yes they are… that’s what the experimental section is for…

^That makes absolutely no sense.
