@greeny8 I called the CB and was told they’d be emailed on the 14th which is a Monday. I’ve been having my kids check their email daily just in case. I’m very anxious to see how my boys did on this new test. The older one is registered for the March SAT and his score will determine how much prep he’ll be doing over Christmas break.
Are you sure @3scoutsmom ? CB just updated their page saying January… https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/k12-educators/psat-nmsqt-dates
@3scoutsmom thanks for calling. Good to know I can check my DD through her account on Monday. I am anxious to know how she does so she can either concentrate on new SAT or ACT. She took the ACT in October and did well but if she does better on SAT then maybe she will take the march one. Also hoping for national merit too!
@greeny8 don’t expect it. https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/k12-educators/psat-nmsqt-dates
What a crock. There is no doubt in my mind that they have messed up somewhere. Most likely that there are way too many high scores. Even worse is that now the Juniors do not have the information soon enough to register for the old Jan SAT if their PSAT scores on the new test bad.
@MichiganGeorgia That is what I am afraid of. My dd scored very high on the sample and the released new SAT tests. She wasn’t planning on taking the old test bc of that. She didn’t want to study for the current format. Now I’m not sure what she should do. She was going to take a subject test in Jan.
@joeweller thanks for the info. Ugh
This totally SINKS!!! I really didn’t believe it when I read it. I called the CB again because they had just told me the scores would be emailed on the 14th and they confirmed the new January dates. So I asked why and they said that National Merit needed more time to ‘score the test’ I reminded the woman at CB that CB scores the test NOT NM! She said that she was told that the delay was due to National Merit. So I called National Merit and they have no idea what the CB is talking about. I called back again and this time I was told they did know what the delay was but would “escalate” my request for information. I also found out they couldn’t find any record of my older sons test (the one that does actually have a CB account!) What a mess!
@Mom2aphysicsgeek - We are in the opposite position. DS has already taken the ACT and SAT twice. I hadn’t planned on him taking it again. But now I’m think what if a scholarship comes up that he needs just a little better Math/Reading score? I don’t have a lot of faith in the college board right now. I’m afraid that the new SAT is going to be a mess for the March/May/June ones. Now I’m thinking I need to have him take the Jan test just in case…
Wow. The plot thickens. Well, since we have time now, I will ask a (maybe dumb) question. My daughter has not yet created a Student Account on College Board. How will they ‘link’ her score on the PSAT to her new student account at CB? Is it through the email she provided when she took the test?
She used her personal email when she took the PSAT, and I’d like her CB account to have another email address associated to it for her.
I suppose I should call CB, but they’re probably a little busy now
Nm. Found it. Apparently you can update your email address at any time.
My D was planning on using the Christmas break to finish her SAT prep, now no score report to identify week areas. She will now need to rely on Khan Academy and the Blue Book. Why did we pay to take the PSAT again?
Why can not at least release just the raw scores? At least she could see her weak areas.
Did anyone notice the look of the CB “My College Quick Start” changed? My son’s looks very different than yesterday. It still shows 2014 scores but in a different format. Wonder if this is a step towards releasing scores. Though, the January post above makes me mad.
They’ve been tinkering with QuickStart probably in anticipation of releasing the new set of scores. That’s been our conclusion the past day or so, anyway.
Here’s the official response I received from the College Board this afternoon:
"We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Please be advised that you have reached the PSAT/NMSQT Educator line.
Scores for the 2015 PSAT/NMSQT administration will be available online for students on January 7, 2016. Schools will receive 1 paper score report for students on January 29, 2016."
This is ridiculous. I don’t care about getting the national merit cut offs right away, I just want to see what I got wrong and my raw score. Is it really too much for such a large company to grade multiple choice tests in two months?
I should have known something like this would have happened. The writing and math sections were too easy, so now they got to figure a new curve. I thought I could slip through with a few mistakes, but perhaps not.
Probably they want more kids test for old SAT in January!
Sigh, I wished all along that DS could have just used his sophomore PSAT score, which was clearly NM.
Honestly, I feel a little depressed by how easy everyone found the test. I’m pretty sure I missed at least 3 math questions and at least 6 Reading questions. Some even say that the amount of perfect scorers exceeds the normal NMS cutoff percentile, which makes me question my own abilities. And I’m a decently smart guy and solid test taker (2330 SAT superscore, 2nd try). I was really hoping for $2000 per year to lighten the cost of UCs, but it looks like that’s out the window.
Anybody thinking about taking ACT instead? DD was going to take March SAT with alternate date in June. Now I am concerned that she is behind 6 month or more on standard test compared to her friends. about it – she thinks everything is fine. I’d like to hear from your guys. 3Scotsmom, how about you?
