So the PSATs were this morning, and I didn't take it. I'm applying to a couple Ivy Leagues, Stanford, and several UCs. None of which accept the NM Scholarship. Furthermore, I don't have SAT scores to bump me to Finalist even if I do well on the PSATs, because I took the ACT, which I got a 35 on.

Almost everyone else in my grade took the test, so was this the right decision? And will not taking the PSAT hurt my chances?

Are you a junior? Even if you didn’t plan on taking the SAT, I think you still should’ve gone. It just looks good on your application, yeah? For a seemingly good test taker like you, this was kinda a gimme. I mean, I don’t think it’ll necessarily hurt your chances–it’ll just be like you took it and didn’t qualify for NMSF or Commended.

Also, I hope you’re applying to UC’s other than Cal and LA if that’s your entire list of schools.

Good luck!
