Hi everyone,
I just took a practice PSAT today (2013) and I got a 184.
I live in California, where the score cutoff is roughly ~223, if I'm not mistaken.

My main problems are CR and Math. Writing is okay, the mistakes I made were pretty careless, and I'm sure I can score higher on that- for Writing I just memorize the grammar rules :P

Is it even possible to raise my PSAT score that much in a week :O ?

EDIT: lost track of time..my bad. I'm taking the PSAT on October 15. So I have roughly two weeks.

Well, I’m trying to do that now, except I’m going from a 190 to a 220 (to apply to a program; they have a cutoff) (don’t ask :|)

Testive.com is a great website for SAT stuff. They calibrate your score and give you practice problems with videos on how to do the question. Very helpful.

Vocabulary.com has great vocabulary lists to study. They are fill ins so its sorta helpful to learn the definition, opposites etc. You can find lists for CR vocab; lists like “PSAT Top 100” or “SAT Top 100” etc. It doesn’t matter what list you use. Just the fact that you study vocabulary. You can put in the words you don’t know into a list and study them as well.

Khan Academy now has SAT problems and videos on how to do them. I use this to just brush up on the silly errors or statistic problems I don’t know. Although they are a little harder than you will find on the PSATs, its helpful to prep you for the SATs.

If you have trouble reading the passages quick enough, get a book like “Animal Farm” or something easy and time yourself, try to read the page quickly and then see if you can summarize the page or not.

This is what I have been studying since last week. Although this is SAT prep, it helps with the PSAT (actually, it makes the PSATs seem like a joke) which helps me personally.

So try that.

I’m taking the PSATs on Oct. 18th.
