400th post

for the question about the rectangular prism

why is the answer sqrt(rst)??? I put just rst cuz its length * width * height

your method is wrong because you don't know if the faces are squares
you cant square root them

ya.. i guessed on that... it was the only logical answer

i did it using an example, like the sides are 2, 3, and 4. i got square root of rst.

but i dont see how just square rooting it gives you the right answer. it was a RECTANGULAR PRISM, not a CUBE. so the sides are diff than just the area's square root

yeah the rst one was a semi-trick question (especially when rushing through)

go zachsta again

Meh, whats the right way to do that one then?

ok, sides are 2, 3, and 4:
areas are 8 12 and 6
(8 x 12 x 6) = 576
volume is 24
24 is teh square root of 576
thats how i got it...

RST problem

Think of this:

R = length * width

S = l * h

T = w * h

so Sqrt(RST) = Sqrt(lwlhwh) = Sqrt(l^2 * w^2 * h^2) = sqrt(l^2) * sqrt(w^2)sqrt(h^2) = lwh = volume

They're not squares but if you draw a cube and found the volume ... the one with sqrt(rst) was the only one that came out w/the same volume. (at least for my imaginary cube w/side=5)

wow last method seems a bit confusing

I got 1 "No error" on writing I believe.

i just realized
you guys are giving people who are taking the exam on saturday a BIG advantage, and im getting REALLY worried now
i think we should stop now
can the MODs please delete this thread?

the writing passage about women facing discrimination in the workplace/deciding own work environment.

what did you put for "which sentence would best be added to the end of the passage?

-though they face discrimination, they are just as capable as men
-they need to stay in the unhospitable environment to help out others

master, i think they have a diff. test.
plus, nobody in my room said anything about discussing answers?

ooh
thats really good to know

Women are just as capable as men, despite discrimination in the corporate world.

haha, yeah im not sure though.
i think collegeboard takes precautions to make sure everyones on a level playing field. that is, before i found out that they took an EXACT copy of a critical reading passage from years ago and put it on today's test.

Math:

Area of quadrilateral (almost-a-triangle thingy in the grid) – 3.5

Train in the tunnel – 1200

Rst rectangle box– square root

Which one could be a triangle – 7,8,9

How many odd numbers – 125

How many students – 18

Ratio of the wheel- 7.5

What cant have a remainder of 5 – 5

Critical Reading:

Sentence Completion:

Smooth - suave

Spanish Long Passage:
“hum” – constant presence

“expand” – spread

why was the author unfair to Spanish – not a clear answer yet

Robot Long Passage:
“mindchildren”- they were offspring and will surpass

which of the following best expresses the claim that Dinesen was a "great mythmaker”- Dinesen constructed a public identity as carefully as she constructed her stories

The parenthetical phrase - emphasize that Dinesen's life is not easily distinguished from the myth

phoenix – she was regenerated after a disappointment and became a successful artist

Fourth paragraph is unique because - is critical of Dinesen's character

The comment implies that - Dinesen's behavior cannot be evaluated in absolute moral terms

which best contrasts Dineson in Kenya and in Denmark - An awe-inspiring figure versus a contradictory individual

Genetically Modified Food Passages:
What would passage 2 say about the risks – acceptable or slight....this one is also split.....its looking like acceptable
