PSAT results are in

s snack:

PSAT scores are not out in many places. You are not alone. S's school is not releasing until next week for 11th graders and the following week for 9th and 10th graders.

CR: 69
M: 77
W: 71

217 :/ that sucks....

at least I'm a sophomore! :)

Tx 223. Cr 80 M 74 W 69

How does it make sense that the only question i missed was one of the grid-in math questions and i got a 76? And i got one wrong (38/39) on the writing and got a 78? Well i guess that makes sense, but I mean last year in the writing i got 5 wrong (34/39) and i got a 73. im not really complaining just wondering...

M 63
Cr 78
Wr 73

jenny2150, the writing scale is slightly tougher this year.
missing one last year would have been 80 i think, this year I got a 78 just like you did. I guess overall, people did better in writing this year- thus the harder scale

M- 80..76..74..72..70..69..67..66..65..63..62..60

i dont get the curves. if this is the right wednesday curve, does it mean if you get one math question wrong you get a 76?? what about if you omit one or miss one of the grid-ins?

Getting one wrong means -0.25, so your raw score becomes 1.25 away from perfect (say the perfect raw score is 20, missing one means you get 18.75 which rounds up to 19) since it rounds up, missing one would mean you have a 76.

Omitting and missing grid-ins do not count against you, but you'll lose 2 raw points for not answering/getting a grid-in wrong. Thus you should have 74.

Keep in mind that the curves have not been proven to be accurate, though.

I got a 212 in Wisconsin. Will I be a Semi-Finalist?

215 in MI.

I made NMSF I guess but I can't say I'm too happy...sigh it sucks when you have high goals for yourself but can never attain them.:(

I want my psat back!!! my stupid school still didn't pass it out.

I did well this year on the PSAT. I had a 15 point increase from last year's score (I was also extremely sick the day of the test), however I'm dissipointed.
Does anyone else feel a bit cheated because they moved right before it was time to take the test? My score only qualifies me for commended here in texas; however, if I were stilll living in louisiana, where I recieved pretty much all of my education, I could be a semifinalist.

I'm assuming you were displaced due to Katrina. Call or email the National Merit organization to see how they are handling this situation.

Oasis, what are you talking about with the grid ins? Omitting or answering the grid ins will not reduce your score by two points.

Why do some schools not give PSATs out as soon as they get them? I got mine in the middle of last December.

I got a 228 in NJ. Will I be a (Semi)Finalist?

Ghenghis Kahn-

Yes you will! Congratulations!

yay good job everyone.
stewie- my school gave them out after winter break just because before break we had exams and stuff, which i guess made us too busy to get them back.
i am still pretty mad that missing one grid in gave me a 76 though!! and also because the mistake was so stupid. oh well.
do colleges see these scores? because i've gotten stuff (and i'm sure you all have too) from colleges that says they know i did well. is that just a lie? or maybe do they see the top 5% or something like that?

jenny2150, if you signed up for the student search they'll see your score because college board sends it to them. You had to check a little box on the day of your examination when you were filling out all the info on the answer sheet.
