PSAT Scores...

Any news on when the PSAT scores come out? I heard in December, but what date?

According to some other threads here on CC, scores have been mailed to the high schools already, and some students have gotten their scores already and others have been notified by the high school that they will get them soon. Once the school has the scores, it is up to the school when to hand them out. Hope our school won’t wait until after Christmas break as it has in other years.

They’re probably already at your school or will be there very soon. You might not get them until later. I got mine last year pretty early in December, but a lot of schools don’t show you them until closer to Christmas because guidance is busy dealing with recommendations and transcripts for seniors applying to colleges. Ask your guidance counselor.

Yep, they’re probably at your school already. When you actually receive your score depends on your guidance counselor; I know for my school, we have meetings on the 16th.

Hm… I suppose this means that the PSAT fandom will be getting a second wind, then?

They arrived at my son’s school today. Now they will stuff them into envelopes along with a cover letter and send them to student’s homes. But it seems like every school handles things differently.

Omg, the PSAT fandom! Tumblr’s PSAT tag is just beautiful. They’ve written fan fic shipping the Japanese guy with the translator.

I usually get my score in mid December. So I’m assuming it’ll be coming in the next week or two.

I agree, the PSAT fandom is a beautiful cultural phenomena. I almost wish I’d taken that PSAT just to understand it all…

Also, is your username a reference to The Fault in our Stars?

I am dreading the day when my PSAT scores come out. I did horribly. Missed 2 in math, have no idea about CR, but I feel really uncomfortable about it, and Writing…well, let’s just say I got a lot of E’s.

Probably didn’t even get 200 :(

And I probably got above a 50 in CR (I got a 620 in CR on the real SAT), but I feel like I missed so many that I didn’t get a 50.

If I don’t meet that requirement, then I’m booted out of honors lit. Scared as hell.

Estimated scores:
M - 74
CR - 60-65
W - 60

Eh, why panic? I got less than 200 on my PSAT (196, to be exact, with 66 CR, 63 Math, and 67 Writing), and proceeded to get 2240 first try on my SAT.

@Yakisoba - Are you a junior or soph? I feel the same way, though…totally bombed CR. Writing and math were both eh, definitely didn’t do as well on math as I hoped to do, though. I know I got at least 1 question wrong. /:

Is the PSAT much harder to get a 230+ on compared to the ACT Explore? We took that last year as freshmen and most of us got 23s, 24s, and 25s…just wondering if the PSAT score is less of a joke. It seems like it.

Hahaha, yes, CultClassic, it’s a TFIOS reference. :)

@Catchinginfinity I’m not sure if the PSAT is harder to get a 230 on, but I got a 36 on the Explore test in 8th grade. Are you sure you’re not confusing it with the PLAN?

@catchinginfinity I’m a freshie…

@Yakisoba - HAHA sorry. I didn’t know freshmen took the PSAT…

@anonemuss - I’m pretty sure it was the Explore, not the PLAN…just searched it and it says the PLAN is for 10th graders? (I’m in 10th grade right now.) 25 was the highest score possible…or maybe 26? Definitely not 36 though.

^ every student’s required to take it at my school (besides seniors). If you don’t get a 50 at least, then you’re kicked out of honors lit.

Yakisoba I feel that. I made so many dumb mistakes, especially in math and CR. It’s not even the score itself that’s upsetting, it’s knowing that I definitely COULD have done better if I paid a little more attention.

lol @Yakisoba, you probably did fine. Just remember, a 69.69696969 is good enough for U of Y.

We just got our scores today, and I did pretty well I think!
CR: 71
M: 53 (ugh)
W: 70
