Has anyone here ever taken the PSAT or SAT with accommodations? My S18 had a cast on his dominant hand when he took the PSAT in October 2016, so they gave him an answer sheet with bigger bubbles to make it easier to fill out. Today is results-day, and his test scores are not up.
If you’ve taken the PSAT or SAT with accommodation, did it take longer to get your score? If so, how much longer? And, do you know if you were still considered for National Merit if your scores were high enough?
I called College Board to ask these questions and they were zero help. Thanks!!
@sgopal2 – After I logged in, I could see last year’s scores, but this year’s scores were not up. So I tried the “Add Scores” button on the bottom of the screen, and entered the information it asked for, and then screen said “the information you entered is already associated with the account. There could be a delay or other reason why scores are not posted.” It had a phone number to call, which I did. The customer service rep said she could confirm that my son did take the PSAT in October 2016, but that for any other information I should call my son’s school. I spoke to her manager who merely kept repeating I should contact my son’s school. The customer service rep said nothing about an accommodation. So then I called my son’s school and the GC said my son was not even on her master score list. She is the one who suggested that maybe the delay was because of the accommodation. So I’m working from that assumption because CB will not provide any additional information. I then called CB back on a different customer service number I found elsewhere on their site and explained my predicament. The representative I spoke with that time was at least nicer and more sympathetic, but he still could not confirm or deny that the delay was because of the accommodation (if this is a normal delay because of the accommodation, I would feel a lot better if they would just say so), could not say how much longer I should wait before I call back, and could not say whether the delay would affect consideration for National Merit awards if the score is otherwise high enough.
I can’t help feeling like something is wrong. But I am not really sure what to do at this point.
So frustrating because we did not have this experience with ACT. My son took the ACT with the same accommodation the same week he took the PSAT. Not only did his ACT score come back at the same time as everyone else’s, it only took about 3 weeks.
@wustl93: i’m sorry to hear about this run-around you’re receiving. Have you considered calling the office of Students with Disabilities at the College Board directly? They sometimes can be more helpful.
@sgopal2 Thank you for this suggestion! I called the 212 number this afternoon and it was a much different experience. That office was much more helpful and much more pleasant to deal with. They confirmed that the delay is because of the accommodation and, while they couldn’t yet release a score, they could at least tell me a score will be forthcoming in another two or three days. I think my blood pressure has already come down a few notches!
