My excitement cannot be tamed :p

getting mine the 12th. sigh

When will schools start receiving the scores. This week?

I want to know now… I hope my school passes them out quickly!

Do they not just get posted directly to one’s collegeboard account?

No, you have to get them through your school. Once you get the paper scores, there should be an access code for the online ones

My school doesn’t pass them out until January =(

Anyone know when these get passed out? I’m leaving for vacation on the 13th and really like them back before then!

Me too。but I think we shuld get them bck this wk

I think mine are coming out this month!

My school does not pass them out until January 13th or something like that. :(

what score do you need to qualify for the National Merit?

Depends on the state. In New England the cutoffs might be 220-223, but in some states it could be around 205.

My school gives them out on the 13th…

ANOTHER THREAD shows New Jersey has scores

I don’t know when we are getting the scores… BUT I WANT… NEED THEM

The National Merit Scholarship usually goes to kids who score in the top 99 percent. I got in the 98th percentile. Is there still a chance I can get the National Merit scholarship? If so, what are the chances?

It completely depends on the State you live in. The cut off is not the percentile, it is an actual score which varies by State. If your score is below your State’s cut off you have 0% chance. If it is at or above the State cutoff you will be a semi finalist and have a good chance of being a finalist.

So if you know you were in the 99th percentile (my school just got in the scores—they’re out for Georgia!) are you pretty much guaranteed National Merit, even if your scores were pretty low (I only got a 215, but my Vice Principal said that was in the 99th)?
Like is the state cutoff score based off of the edge of the 99th percentile?

It depends on the cut off for the State. Some states have cut offs in the 224 range, so for them a 215 would not be high enough. Some have much lower cut offs. There are lots of CC threads that have last year’s state by state cut offs. Find one of them and see what the Georgia cut off was. It may be higher or lower this year, but will give you an idea.

according to this thread, the cutoff for Georgia last year was 215, but the previous year was 218. So you are borderline but won’t really know until they tell you (or some other people from Georgia find out and post). Good luck. (Or the thread might be saying the cutoff last year was 218 and they are speculating it might be 215 this year?).
