PSAT sign ups

Does one have to sign up for the PSAT sophomore year, or does the school just test the students without the students having to sign up? Also, is PSAT free?

the PSAT should be free...unless your school is trying to make a profit off you poor sophies. At my school we had to sign up if we wanted to take the PSAT as sophomores and Juniors. Are you taking it through a school?

Our school charges for the PSAT, though some schools administer it free. I think it's $15 or $20. The students have to sign up to take it both years. Ask your counselor how your school does it.

Thanks for the information guys.

For me it's $15, almost like discouraging us from taking it. Btw, anybody know when the last day to sign up for the Oct. 8 SAT I?

sept 14 is last day for late registration for oct sat

Alright, thanks bluebayou.

Retribution, you can't expect tests like this to be free. Neither your school nor the College Board is making any money from administering the PSAT.

Considering what hs kids spend on alcohol, tobacco and drugs, cell phones and other "stuff," $12-$20 for the PSAT is a bargain!

The registration deadline depends on the local school administering the PSAT, but it seems to be September 30, 2005 in most situations. Just ask your GC. Even if school isn't officially open yet, school staff are beginning to return in preparation for the first day of school.
