yea...i dont really know why either....i just know that her 800 beats whatever score i am going to get....so....i trust what she put down...oh well....i just hope my math score can boost up the other subjects....

Arch3r25: are you sure?
Cause I trust my English teacher a lot and she's really good at her job, but then I'm not sure, maybe I stated the sentence wrong to her..but I gave her an example like " the congress was worried about the bill it's being passed.. ( that's not what i said exactly..but i said the sentence was similar) and she said that if its being passed had an antecedent, then it's correct because its is possesive and it modifies the gerund being passed.

I definitely believe that "being passed" is correct. Collegeboard is trying to fool students into choosing this as the wrong answer; afterall, it WAS the last problem of the error problems. When making this test, CB had to utilized a sentence that was structurally and grammatically correct but awkward-sounding. Thus, this sentence.

for the question about the winner of the science award. (it was not an error-id question), did yall put "of which he became its second winner"? i think the sentence was like
John won a science award, a very important award (or some other appositive that i think described the award), of which he became its second youngest winner. i didnt know if it was "becoming its second winner" of "of which he became its second winner"

i think i put becoming its second youngest winner
idk for sure

does anyone know how high you need to score to be commended in Maryland? thanks!

Being commended isn't a State thing. A national score is set for being commended, this past year it was 200. Possibly will be 201-202 next year.

Your state's cutoff will determine Semi-Finalist and Finalist standings though. If you do a search for State Cutoffs or something similar on here you will probably find a list of them, including Maryland, for this past year. Good luck

commended cut off is around 201-203 nationally

when do scores usually come in?.....according to our counselors...they said december....but is that right?

the bill/legislation one is correct

there is a possessive case before the gerund; therefore, it's correct

i have a reading question:
in the first passage about the animals or whatever....there was a question about the significance of the "italics" of the 1st paragraph.....what did yall put?

i put to show that the author was skeptical that animals could rly talk but im not sure at all
