Psat!!!!!

i heard that only US citizens benefit from high psat scores...

are there any benefits for international students?

nothing??? even if we get like the top 5% score?

no scholarship? no nothing???

help plz

wats the psat for??

That is not true. If you are an Intl living in the US, you can be National Semi-finalist. In order to be finalist you need to be citizen, permanent resident or in the process to become resident.
The Psat exam is similar to SAT I but shorter. 1.4M eleven-graders take the exam, the top 50K are National Commended Scholars from them 16K become National Semis and finally 15K become finalists.
There is no national scale, each state has their own criteria.
The highests MD, NJ (and most east coast states) 232/240. The lowest MS, AR, MT 206/240.

oh k i get it...thanks

thanks visitor1... so are you saying that only the intl living in US can be a semi finalist? but wut about ppl living OUTside of US? and even if we do make it to the semis... do we actually get any benefits? like scholarship?

WHAAA!!! Those numbers are HUGE!!!

I seriously doubt its credibilty if 50K, 16K and 15K are numbers....virtually anyone can become one then!!!

See by yourself.

Well PSAT helps everyone even international students. Its just not helpful for american students. The PSAT helps any student understand where he/she stands in the actual SAT. It also helps to understand areas which need focus and also where you have a strong foot-hold on. The only disadvantage for an international student about the PSAT is that the student cannot qualify for NMSQT which is National Merit and Scholarship Award which only american students are eligible for. But apart from this I must say that every SAT student should give the PSAT during high school. Its an awesome tool to gauge your positioning in the actual SAT.

Are you sure that US students at international schools cannot qualify for NMSC scholarships? I believe US citizens at international schools can qualify if they take the PSAT in their junior year- or at least that is what we've been told.
